Ukrainian forces on Thursday as soon as once more hung their flag over the notorious Snake Island one week after Russia withdrew its troopers from the extremely contested Black Sea island.

Spokesperson for the Odesa Oblast Navy Administration Serhiy Bratchuk posted comparable photos to Telegram and stated, “The Ukrainian military has raised the Ukrainian flag on the Zmiinyi [Snake] Island”.

He included an image of Ukrainian troopers signing the flag with an inscription that learn, “Bear in mind, ‘Russian warship’, Zmiinyi Island is Ukraine,” in accordance with a translation by Ukrainian information outlet Pravda.

The ministry claimed that a number of the servicemen seen with the flag have been “destroyed” whereas the others retreated.
