CMA Fest bans Accomplice flag imagery ‘of any kind’ at nation music pageant

The CMA Fest is becoming a member of different musical festivals in banning all imagery associated to the Accomplice flag for this 12 months’s occasion.  

The four-day occasion in Nashville, which begins on June 9, lists “Confederate flag imagery of any kind,” underneath its list of prohibited items and actions.

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual pageant that started in 1972 will return to Nashville. The pageant commonly attracts about 50,000 nation music followers.

The Nation Music Affiliation told The Tennessean that the choice to enact a ban on Accomplice flag imagery this 12 months was based mostly on defending the private security of followers and stopping discrimination.

“This year’s CMA Fest is our first major fan-facing event in nearly three years,” the assertion stated. “We have always had policies in place that protect the safety of our fans and ban discrimination, but we felt it was important to further refine our language to explicitly outline what will and will not be tolerated.”

Stagecoach Pageant in Indio, California, this 12 months banned Accomplice flag imagery and some other “divisive symbols” and “racially disparaging” shows.

Nation star Maren Morris has urged different nation singers to name on festivals and exhibits to ban the flag. Luke Combs has additionally apologized for beforehand showing with the Accomplice flag, saying there was no excuse.
